What is Mark Davis’s Net Worth?
Mark is an American sports franchise owner and a businessman who has a net worth of $750 million. He is the owner and managing director of the Raiders, and he also owns the WNBA team the Las Vegas Aces. Mark is the son of Al Davis and in 2011, when his father died, he inherited Oakland Raiders now known as the Las Vegas Raiders.
Early Life
Mark Davis was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 18 May 1955. He attended the California State University, Chico. In 1986 he developed the muff-style hand warmer for football after he spent time in the Raiders equipment department. Davis represented Raiders player Cliff Branch in contract negotiations with the team which resulted in a deal that included an annuity in 1980. These got Mark to be kicked out of his father’s house for being too close to athletes [players]. When the team moved to Los Angeles, he lived with Branch.
Career
In 2011, Davis and Carol, his mother inherited the team after his father, Al Davis died. Mark and Carol own a 47 percent share of the Raiders.
Davis became the director of the team towards the end of the Raiders’ lease with the Oakland Coliseum, a facility that dates back to 1965 and had a lot of issues due to its age.
Davis began to communicate with representatives in other cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Antonio due to the lack of stadiums.
Davis announced that the Raiders would pursue a shared stadium in Carson, California in late February 2015, with San Diego Chargers and Dean Spanos.
Davis’ and Spanos’ proposal directly competed with and eventually lost to his proposed stadium in Inglewood and lost to Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke.
In Oakland, until after the Carson vote, Davis was also actively working towards a resolution. He said in an interview, “we are trying everything possible to get something done in Oakland right on the same exact site we’re on right now”.
The National Football League officially approved the Raiders’ move from Oakland to Las Vegas in a 31–1 vote on 27 March 2017, ensuring them a new stadium in the process.
On 12 February 2021, the purchase was approved by the WNBA and NBA. Becky Hammon was hired as head coach in a deal that made her the highest-paid coach in the WNBA on 31 February of that same year.
