On the 5th of February 1968, Roberto “Robbie” Alomar Velázquez was birthed into a family of baseballers in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Roberto Alomar eventually became a member of the Class-A affiliate team in Charleston after signing a contract with the San Diego Padres when he turned 17 years of age. Shortly after a year, he played with the Reno Padres and had a hitting average of.346 to win the California League batting championship.

Subsequently, on April 22, 1988, Roberto made his major league debut against the Houston Astros. In 1990, while serving as a National League reserve, he made his first All-Star appearance.

Roberto Alomar and Joe Carter were swapped for Fred McGriff and Tony Fernández by the Toronto Blue Jays on December 5, 1990. The Blue Jays were Alomar’s longest-tenured franchise, and he played there until 1995.

He was chosen to the All-Star squad and received the Gold Glove Award in each of his five seasons with the Blue Jays.

Roberto joined the Baltimore Orioles in December 1995 and played there through the end of the 1998 season. He next signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians, spending two of his most fruitful seasons there in 1999 and 2001.

Prior to calling it quits during spring training in 2005, Roberto played for the New York Mets, Chicago White Sox, and Arizona Diamondbacks in his final seasons.
