In Osogbo, Nigeria, David Olaniyi Oyedepo was birthed on September 27, 1954, he hails from Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. David was groomed in Osogbo by his grandmother who lectured him on how tithing is important and regularly attending prayers in the mornings to boost his Christian life.

His parents were mixed religions where Ibrahim his father was a Muslim healer and Dorcas his mother was a member of the Holy Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church (C&S), a branch of the Aladura movement in Nigeria.

Education

David Oyedepo was schooled at Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, the department of architecture. He also studied at Honolulu University, Hawaii, US, and bagged a Ph.D. in Human Development.

Career

David started his career in Ilorin where he served in the Federal Ministry of Housing. Later he resigned completely and focused on Missionary and Evangelist work.

David Oyedepo received christ in 1969 through the inspiration and teachings of Betty Lasher his great teacher who looked after him all through his years in high school.

According to him, in May 1981, he was given a mandate by God through an 18-hour vision to free the globe from all devilish oppression by preaching the word of faith. This vision gave him the inspiration and zeal to establish the Liberation Faith Hour Ministries, which is now called Living Faith Church World Wide (LFCWW), in 1981.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ordained David and his wife Faith Abiola Oyedepo) to become pastors on September 17, 1983, and formally commissioned the couple’s new church.
